Backend & Software Architecture

I design and build backends that stay maintainable as products grow: well-documented APIs, clean architecture and DDD, event-driven processing with RabbitMQ, Redis caching and Docker-based CI/CD. From Izmir I work with startups and companies across Türkiye and abroad, as an architect, a hands-on developer or a fractional CTO.

Clean Architecture & DDD

Framework-independent domain cores, clear layer boundaries and architecture tests that keep complex business logic readable and testable.

Event-driven Systems

RabbitMQ queues and workers for background jobs, integrations and heavy processing, so user-facing requests stay fast.

Caching & Data Layer

PostgreSQL and MySQL schema design, query tuning, Redis caching and search with Meilisearch or Elasticsearch.

Docker, CI/CD & Infrastructure

Containerised environments, Nginx, GitHub Actions pipelines and automated tests so every release is repeatable and safe.

Code Audits & Legacy Refactoring

An honest review of your codebase, a prioritised improvement plan and step-by-step refactoring of legacy systems without a risky rewrite.

212 Stüdyo

A dependable business platform built for 212 Stüdyo's day-to-day operations.

Who It's For: Growing Businesses

03Process

How I Work

  1. 01 step Understand the Domain I start with your business, users and constraints, and review any existing code, infrastructure and pain points.
  2. 02 step Architecture Plan I propose a clear architecture, data model and API design, with the trade-offs explained so decisions are made together.
  3. 03 step Build in Increments Development happens in small, tested increments with CI/CD from day one, so progress is visible and releases are safe.
  4. 04 step Test & Harden Unit, feature and architecture tests, load-sensitive paths, security and error handling are checked before going live.
  5. 05 step Handover & Guidance Documentation, knowledge transfer to your team and ongoing technical guidance, as a partner or fractional CTO if needed.

05Why

Why Invest in Solid Architecture?

01

Change Without Fear

Clear boundaries and good test coverage mean new features can be added quickly without breaking what already works.

02

Performance Under Load

Caching, queues and a well-designed data layer keep response times low as users, data and integrations grow.

03

Lower Long-Term Cost

Maintainable code reduces time spent on bugs and workarounds, and makes onboarding new developers much easier.

04

Senior Guidance on Demand

Get architect-level decisions and code reviews without hiring a full-time CTO before your company is ready for one.

06FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Get a Free Quote
How is a backend or architecture project priced?
It depends on the scope: a one-off code audit, a new backend build and ongoing fractional CTO support are priced differently. After an initial conversation I suggest the right format and send a clear quote. Get in touch to discuss your project.
Which technologies do you work with?
Mainly Laravel, Symfony, Lumen, NestJS and Node.js on the backend, with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, RabbitMQ, Meilisearch and Elasticsearch. Infrastructure runs on Docker, Nginx and GitHub Actions. I choose tools based on the problem, not the other way round.
Do we need microservices?
Not always. Many products are better served by a well-structured modular monolith, with services split out only where there is a clear reason. I help you choose the simplest architecture that meets your real requirements.
Can you improve our existing legacy system?
Yes. I start with a code audit to find the biggest risks and bottlenecks, then refactor step by step, adding tests as I go. Full rewrites are rarely the safest option, so I only recommend one when it genuinely makes sense.
What does fractional CTO support involve?
It means senior technical leadership on a part-time basis: architecture decisions, code reviews, hiring support, roadmap planning and working alongside your developers. It suits startups and companies that need that experience before hiring a full-time CTO.
Can you work with our in-house team?
Yes. I often work alongside existing teams, setting up conventions, reviewing pull requests and mentoring developers so that the architecture is sustainable after my involvement.
Do you work with clients outside Türkiye?
Yes. I am based in Izmir and have worked on projects for clients in Ireland and the USA, as well as across Türkiye. Collaboration runs remotely with regular check-ins.

07Guide

Most software problems that slow a company down are not visible on the screen. They live in the backend: tangled business logic, endpoints nobody dares to touch, slow queries, and releases that feel like a gamble. With more than 15 years of experience and 100+ projects behind me, I help companies design backends that stay fast, understandable and easy to change as the product grows.

Architecture That Makes Change Safe

Good architecture is less about fashionable patterns and more about putting boundaries in the right places. I use Clean Architecture and Domain-Driven Design to keep business rules independent of frameworks and infrastructure, backed by automated tests that enforce those boundaries.

The clearest example is Tarlamapp, the AI-driven multi-tenant AgriTech SaaS I founded and develop at Teknopark İzmir as part of a TÜBİTAK programme. Its framework-independent core is covered by 655 tests with machine-enforced layer boundaries, so new features such as plan-based limits, growth tracking or WhatsApp alerts can be added without destabilising the rest of the system.

APIs, Queues and Caching at Scale

A backend has to serve many clients reliably: web apps, mobile apps, admin panels and third-party integrations. My typical toolkit includes:

  • REST APIs with token authentication, versioning and OpenAPI documentation
  • RabbitMQ queues and workers for background jobs and integrations
  • Redis caching in front of PostgreSQL or MySQL
  • Meilisearch or Elasticsearch for fast search
  • Docker, Nginx and GitHub Actions for repeatable CI/CD

For 212 Stüdyo, an enterprise platform on Laravel and PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ handles background work and Redis sits in front of the database. For OneBill in Ireland, an energy cost platform, customer bills are read, tariffs extracted and compared against the whole market, with daily re-checks running in the background. Extracım, a staffing marketplace, runs its web app, a 160+ endpoint mobile API and its admin back office from a single, well-structured Laravel codebase.

Microservices, When They Make Sense

Microservices can solve real scaling and team problems, but they also add operational complexity. I help you decide honestly: often a well-structured modular monolith is the right first step, with services split out where independent scaling, deployment or ownership genuinely pays off.

Code Audits, Refactoring and Fractional CTO Support

If you already have a system that is becoming hard to maintain, I start with a code audit: architecture, data model, security, performance, tests and deployment. You get a prioritised, practical plan, and I can then refactor legacy code step by step rather than betting on a risky full rewrite.

For startups and growing companies that need senior technical leadership but are not ready for a full-time hire, I also work as a fractional CTO, drawing on my current CTO role and years as a senior software architect. That covers architecture decisions, code reviews, roadmap planning and supporting your developers.

Based in Izmir, I work with companies across Türkiye and abroad. If your backend needs a solid foundation or a second opinion, tell me about your system and I will suggest the right next step and prepare a quote.
